September 13 is Grandparents Day in the US. The day doesn’t get too much attention, like Mother’s or Father’s day, but it does exist and it should be celebrated just the same. Grandparents are such an influential part of development, and for those of us lucky enough to have them in our lives, we should take this day to give thanks and remind them of their importance. On this day grandparents should be celebrated like the elite of the film industry, but before you get to that, here’s a list of celebrities you might not know are grandparents themselves.

Nicolas Cage became a grandparent at age 50, in 2004, to Lucius Augustus Coppola Cage. Quite the suitable name for a child born into the Coppola film dynasty.

Whoopi Goldberg has been a grandparent since she was 34. Now her granddaughter is 20, and she is not embarrassed to hit the red carpet with grandma.

Pierce Brosnan became a grandfather in 1998, that achievement was followed by Pierce being considered the sexiest man alive.

Jim Carrey became a grandfather in 2010, and he is extremely proud of that role.
