At 75 years old, actor Malcolm McDowell has had an intensely unique and successful career. His boisterous, sometimes controversial roles have led to vast experience in various genres. McDowell has been best described as a character actor and first gained recognition 50 years ago in the film titled, If. Directed by Lindsay Anderson, this feature became a landmark of British counter culture cinema and became the 12^th greatest British film of the 20^th century. Just three years later, he played the sinister Alex DeLarge in the classic A Clockwork Orange (1971). He is perhaps best known for that role to this day.

Actor McDowell’s following feature works included Tinto Brass’s Caligula (1979), Time After Time (1979), Star Trek Generations (1994), remakes of the Halloween films, Easy A (2010), and The Artist (2011). In 2003, he starred in the Irish feature, Red Roses and Petrol which was distributed by World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation. McDowell has also had a string of television roles in shows such as Entourage (2009-2011) and Heroes (2007-2008). He has also become a prolific voice actor for video games and other animations like Fallout 3 (2008), God of War III (2010), Call of Duty: Black Ops III (2015), and the Walt Disney Studios film Bolt (2008). The British actor began his training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in 2012. Happy 57th Birthday to Daryl Hannah! The actress is known for several movies, such as her roles in Splash, Blade Runner, and in Steel Magnolias. Daryl Hannah also had a role in the Kill Bill films, directed by Quentin Tarantino. In her personal life, she deals with personal issues of autism. As she told People Magazine, doctors wanted to send her to an institution when she was a child, but her mother did not want her to be taken to any such place. As she told the magazine, she fell in love with movies and she ended moving from Chicago to LA when she was just 17 years old to pursue her acting career.

Hannah is also a very active environmental activist and continues to work toward saving and preserving the environment. Speaking of which, she is featured heavily in the 2009 documentary film Welcome to Eden, which focuses on the former largest urban farm in the nation in South Central Los Angeles. While developers had plans for its demolition and retail development, she fought for the right of inner-city dwellers to have access to fresh food and community. While she didn’t protest by living in one of the trees at the farm land, she certainly spoke out with passion to assist in keeping their community farm alive.

Actor Li Baotian began studying drama in 1960 in his hometown of Xuzhou. He graduated from the prestigious Central Academy located in China and later started teaching at the academy. Li also spent ten years learning how to dance and sing during the Cultural Revolution. His first film,

From Place to Place, was a success and brought him to the attention of the Chinese audience. He then starred in the critically-acclaimed film The Wanderer and The Sun in 1985.

Li won the highly coveted Most Popular Actor award at the 19th Child Golden Eagle Awards.

for his work on the popular TV show Policeman: Li Jiuping. 2003 was a successful year for the actor, where his portrayal of Xi Lalie in the historical television series The Great Doctor: Xi Lalie won him two China Golden Eagle Awards and a Flying Apsaras award. He also starred in the 2013 film The Nightingale. The film tells the story of an elderly man and his granddaughter who travel together through China to fulfill a promise to his late wife. The movie was selected as the official Chinese entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards.

53 years ago today a star was born in the great Paprika Steen -- famously known for her role in the 2009 hit drama, Applause. Paprika Steen was born in the beautiful city of Frederiksberg, Denmark, just a few miles away from Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Starting at a very young age, Paprika showed interest in acting. And how could she not show such interest, considering that her mother, Avil Sagild, was a famous actress herself? Let’s also not forget about her father, who is a famous musician and conductor to this day. It’s easy to see that, growing up, Paprika’s family had a lot of influence over her decision to become an actress and eventually a director.

Because of her parent’s stardom, many might think that her path to becoming an actress was a walk in the park, but in reality, it was much harder than that. When Paprika turned 24 she was finally accepted to the acting school of her dreams -- the acting school of Odense. We say “finally” because it turns out she had to apply thirteen times before being accepted. Paprika’s family name alone was not enough to get her into the acting school of her dreams, so she had to do what most successful people do, and that is to work hard.  

All of the hard work and constant determination that Paprika has shown in her life has led her to become one of the greatest Danish actresses of all time. Paprika has been able to display her talent in great films such as Festen, Open Hearts, Silent Heart, and our very own Applause. That being said, let's take a brief moment to applaud and wish the great Paprika Steen a very Happy Birthday and a joyful fifty-third!

Back in 2010, Mr. Gustavo Ron brought to the screen Sally Nicholls debut 2008 novel, Ways to Live Forever. Documenting the life of a boy suffering from leukemia, the films stars many talented individuals, two of which are celebrating a little something special today. Actors Ben Chaplin and Emilia Fox not only star in this heartfelt film but also share the same birthday!

Born Emilia Rose Elizabeth Fox, this lovely English actress became widely known for her role as Dr. Nikki Alexander on the BBC crime drama, Silent Witness, after joining the cast in 2004. Fox has continued to have a very successful career in both TV and Film having starred in Merlin as Morgause, Flashbacks of A Fool as Sister Jean, and of course in our very own Ways to Live Forever as the mother. These are but a few projects that Fox has taken part in!

Mr. Ben Chaplin was born Benedict John Greenwood on July 31st of 1969 in England. After being applauded for his performance as Tom Wingfield in Sam Mendes’ stage production of The Glass Menagerie (1995), he went on to star in both TV and film productions, some of his most recent being, Mad Dogs as Joel, Little Boy as Ben Eagle, and like Ms. Fox, Ways to Live Forever as the father.

While some of us may mark June 22 as National Chocolate Eclair Day, it just so happens to also be the birthday our beloved Canadian actor Paul Campbell! Campbell’s earliest screen appearance was for a TV show called The Dead Zone back in 2002, but he has since started or been a part of many other TV shows and films.

Paul’s rise to fame came when he was cast to be Billy Keikeya in the revamped 2004 version of the 1970’s show, Battlestar Galactica, where he was the beloved personal assistant to the President of the Twelve Colonies Laura Roslin. Some of this other works involve Preggoland, Almost Heroes, and Rusty Steel. In 2005, he won himself a Leo Award for Best Lead Performance by a Male in the comedy-drama film Ill Fated (2004). The film also received other awards as well such as Best Direction for a Feature Length Drama. You can currently find Paul Campbell starring in the hilarious CTV sitcom Spun Out, which was nominated numerous times for the 2014 and 2015 Canadian Screen Awards.

Paul Campbell (now 38) was born in Vancouver, Canada on June 22, 1979. He is currently married to Lorie Campbell and has a son named Kingston. Some of Paul’s interests include putting peanut butter on everything, complaining about free samples at grocery stores, and eating chili with his shirt off. This multi-faceted, American-born singer, actor, and activist has been deemed one of the most recognized artists in country music. Just last month, he was invited as a special guest to Asleep at the Wheel bandleader Ray Benson’s Birthday Bash in Austin on a Tuesday night. He opened his set with “Whiskey River,” and teamed with Benson on the Townes van Zandt classic,”Pancho & Lefty.”

Singer-songwriter Willie Nelson started writing his first song at the age of seven, and in 1973 Atlantic Records signed him on. He uses a variety of music styles in his country songs which set him apart from others - a hybrid of jazz, pop, blues, rock, and folk. He also has 12 Grammy Awards under his belt from being the hit sensation of the country genre. Though he was on track to becoming the talk of the town, all of his success would not have come about if not for all the sacrifices that he made. He worked a variety of jobs - from a radio announcer and singer in a Vancouver club to a dishwasher, and finally to selling bibles and vacuum cleaners door-to-door. He persevered and was successful in his career.

Besides all of the successes that Willie Nelson has had in his lifetime, his acting really took off with his debut film in 1979, The Electric Horseman. World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation would like to wish Dean Stockwell a Happy 81st Birthday! He is truly one of Hollywood’s very own as he was born in North Hollywood, California. Dean is an American actor of film and television who started at a young age and has a career spanning over 70 years.

He is one of the few people left that were alive and acting during Hollywood’s golden age. Following the success of Quantum Leap (1989), he received his very own star on the Hollywood walk of fame on February 29th, 1992. Today we acknowledge one of Hollywood’s classic and iconic actors who has been in the business for a very long while.

“I started at a very early age in this business and I'm sure most of you have read stories about people who have started as children and ended up in very difficult lives and bad consequences. February 18th is not only Thumbs Appreciation day but, is also the birthday of Italian-Australian actor Greta Scacchi! An actress that has accumulated awards throughout her acting career, she has thoroughly demonstrated her strong skills and talent. In 1996, she won an Emmy Award for her work as Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna of Russia in the television film, Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny (1996) and has also been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards and Golden Globes throughout the years.

Not only is Greta Scacchi a great actress but she is also a passionate humanitarian. Scacchi is an active supporter of campaigns and organizations that promote environmental causes. For instance, she has supported organizations such as Greenpeace and Christian Aid in their combat for climate change awareness. In 2007, as a spokesperson for Christian Aid, she spoke from the stage at the Cut the Carbon rally in Cardiff, Wales and in 2009, she met NASA’s James Hansen and Bishop of Liverpool to protest about the advance of E.ON’s plans for coal-fueled power stations. Not only that but, in the same year, 2009, she posed nude with a codfish to promote the documentary End of the Line (2009), a film exposing the effects of overfishing.

In one of her more recent films, Ways to Live Forever (2010) that was distributed by World Wide Motion Pictures (WWMPC), she combines both her acting talents and passion as a humanitarian in her role as the main character’s tutor, Mrs. Willis. In this film, she inspires Sam, the main character who is a 12-year-old boy dying from leukemia, to live his life to the best extent possible. It is a poignant and uplifting film that reminds us all to not fear the uncertainties of life, but rather embrace it. When he’s not too busy being the rugged, handsome Leon Kennedy from “Resident Evil: Retribution,” or guest starring on NCIS, Johann Urb is busy trying to spread good vibes and good looks.

“Let’s just say I’m working on getting out a positive and inspiring message about how to live life,” Urb said in an interview with Daman.

And Urb puts his money where his mouth is too. He volunteers with The Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition (GWHFC) an amazing organization that has served food to the homeless every single day, since 1987. Not only do they meet people’s immediate needs, but GWHFC also tries to get people into housing and provides mobile health care.

He also has tried to spread positivity through his Instagram, which features his philanthropy and volunteering efforts, as well as some fun adventures he has out in nature!

The Estonian-American actor art in his genes, the son of a musician, and he started off his career as a model in New York, before eventually studying theater at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

He has also starred in many TV shows and movies, including World Wide Motion Pictures’ Rusty Steel, alongside Paul Campbell and Dean Stockwell in this riveting adventure, which is set in Romania on their deceased uncle’s yacht. Some of Johann Urb’s other notable movie and TV appearances include CSI: Miami, NCIS, and Zoolander.
