The Golden Globe Question

goldenglobestatuedark_620_011113post

With the announcement of the Golden Globe nominations last week came some confusion about why Paprika Steen was not included for her jaw-dropping performance in Applause. World Wide would like to clarify that Ms. Steen was not submitted for consideration because Applause opened a few weeks too early in Denmark last year for the film to qualify. However, thanks to the film’s successful one-week run in Los Angeles earlier this month, she is qualified for Oscar consideration. Ms. Steen was submitted in the category of Best Actress and a full campaign is underway. The Academy will be announcing its 2010 nominations in late January.

Jaw Dropping!

The reviews are in and the consensus is unanimous: Paprika Steen's performance in Applause is simply jaw dropping! In the wake of the numerous screenings for the film held on both coasts, in addition to the one-week Oscar-qualifying run held in Los Angeles last week, critics are confirming what World Wide knew all along: this film is a winner! In fact, the theater circuits were so impressed with Applause's popularity that they've requested additional copies of the trailer and more prints so that they can increase the film's pre-premiere exposure and hopefully show it in additional theaters.
