“We need more women on top,” says Golden Globe Award winner Rachel Griffith when discussing her new upcoming project, Stalking Julia, with Daily News, UK. Stalking Julia will be a television movie series in which Griffith will portray former Australian Prime minister Julia Gillard during her controversial three years in office. Australian born herself, Rachel Griffith expressed her opinions on the struggles which Australian women face in society and government. “More women need to be on top, and our girls need more strong role models. Statistics show that Australia’s treatment of women is worse than in many other countries.”
Griffith is also the lead actress in Amy (1997) from World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation, a film centered around her character's struggle with her mute 8 year old daughter Amy (Alana De Roma). The film has won awards such as the Peoples Choice Award for Best Australian Movie at Cannes International Film Festival and a public prize in the Paris Film Festival.
