Happy Birthday, Joan Baez – a musician, activist and inspiration for a generation

World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation would like to proudly wish Joan Baez a Happy 76th Birthday. Her strong charisma has led her to be a strong activist in many areas of conflict around the world. Aside from being an activist, she uses her music to inspire peace and understanding wherever she goes.

If we can learn anything from Joan Baez it is that we should be able to help and stand up for people by supporting great and charitable causes. “What’s had meaning in my life is what I have done out in the world for other people, way more than the music, and way more than the money,” says Baez in an interview in the documentary film Welcome to Eden. World Wide recognizes her today for her ceaseless efforts in preserving the small farm which had been located in the heart of South Central Los Angeles. Congratulations once again on another year, Joan Baez. World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation wishes you the best in your future endeavors that are to come.

Celebrate National Bird Day: Top 3 Best Singing Birds in the World

Nature lovers, bird lovers, and bird watchers across the country annually recognize National Bird Day on January 5th. On this special day, public awareness and education about the physical and behavioral needs of birds are strengthened in order to improve and promote the welfare of birds kept in captivity. The beauty, songs, and flight of birds have long been sources of human inspiration—especially in films, such as The Nightingale (2013) that was distributed by World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation. The Nightingale (2013) follows the journey of an elderly man and his granddaughter who walk together through China with a cage containing a Nightingale—a small passerine bird best known for its powerful and beautiful song. To commemorate National Bird Day, here are some fun facts about the Top 3 Best Singing Birds in the World.

       bird-asian-koel

At number 3 is the Asian Koel—a member of the Cuckoo family. Asian koels are very vocal with a wide range of calls. They normally sing during the breeding season, from March to August. The male Asian koel has a typical call “ko-ooo” that they repeat in definite intervals. On the other hand, the female bird has a rhythmic “kik-kik-kik” call.

bird-canary

At number 2 is the Canary. The popular canary songbird is named after their native origins, the Canary Islands of Spain. Their songs have a unique pattern and style. Canary birds are masters in imitating the sounds they hear from the surroundings repeatedly as they possess the unique ability to learn instrument tones, musical notes, and sounds of other birds.

Finally, at number 1 is, of course, the Nightingale. The common nightingale song is considered to be the most pleasant melodic bird song. Their beautiful song is described in many poems, books, and operas and features rich notes, different sequences, trills, and whistles. To hear the beautiful song of the Nightingale, be sure to check out the movie The Nightingale that is available both on VOD and DVD. As a result, you could become more knowledgeable regarding bird captivity—contributing to the main goal of National Birds Day!

Cool Kind Kid – An Anti-Bullying Organization to Emulate

Bullying is an unfortunate fact of life in our modern society. When you hear about bullying in the news, a solution to stop bullying before it happens is almost never offered. Cool Kind Kid has dedicated its resources to create an Anti-Bullying Program to help give children and teachers the tools to combat bullying in school and in social settings. The problem that they have identified is that schools instead have a reactive approach to bullying instead of being proactive and preventing the behavior, to begin with. To this effect, Cool Kind Kid teaches children of all ages that is it cool to be a kind kid and you don’t need to put others down to feel better about yourself.

Cool Kind Kid provides a variety of materials for both teachers and parents to use to help teach good manners to students, with their award-winning Social Skills Activities for kids. This includes books, games, and workbooks, all available for purchase on their site. They have an entire curriculum planned to help educators with everything from bullying prevention to etiquette rules. They firmly believe in the rule that you need to treat others the way you want to be treated.

This wonderful organization has also partnered with World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation in promoting the feature film Time for a Champion, which portrays the reality of bullying in a high school setting, especially towards immigrant children. This film is unique because it was produced by Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, PSJA, a school district in Texas. This school district allows a student to get a head start on college courses in a high school environment, one of them being film production. The film is scheduled to come out in February 2017, to coincide with International Stand up to Bullying Day, which is on the twenty-fourth.

End Bullying with The Anti-Bullying Movement and TIME FOR A CHAMPION

Bullying is not a drop in the pan: Nicholas Welch wants to make it a movement.

With the vision of starting a nonprofit that would help eliminate bullying among younger generations, Welch founded his nonprofit organization, The Anti-Bullying Movement.

“ I wanted to give back to the world, and let bullies know that it is not okay,” Welch said.

The Louisiana-based organization is fairly local, but Welch hopes to expand it across the nation, and partnering with World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation in the upcoming release of the inspirational feature film Time for a Champion is one more way to accomplish that.

Welch believes that educating students and teachers is the best way to end bullying since such negative treatment can lead to major self-confidence issues, depression, and suicide in the long term. However, he recognizes that bullying, unfortunately, is not limited to children, but can continue into adult interactions and is at times beyond the educator’s reach.

“Workplace bullying is not okay and should be dealt with by human resources,” Welch states. “Bullying can happen at any age and should be properly addressed.”

What should you do? Welch encourages any witness of bullying to report it to a teacher, parent, or, in the case of adult bullying, to human resources.

“Bullying is not okay and has serious side effects,” Welch said.  “Be kind to one another.”

Many are eager for the release of Time for a Champion, a film concerning a bullied teen, who rises above her tormentors and grows through her difficult circumstances. The film is scheduled to release on February 24th, which is International Stand up to Bullying Day.
