Disney supports Ways To Live Forever charity in CHOC

CHOC_300dpiWays To Live Forever has stolen our nation's heart and gained a vast amount of support from charities and children’s hospitals alike. World Wide Motion Pictures would like to take a closer look at some of the film's supporters and see what goes on in the fight against cancer here in Orange County.

So we decided to take a close up look at one of the film’s supporters: Children’s Hospital of OC (CHOC). CHOC has been named one of the top ranked hospitals by U.S. News in 2013 and 2014 - specializing in childhood cancers. Its great work and location has gained the hospital the support of celebrities such as Britney Spears, Ryan Seacrest, and many others. In addition, the hospital is also supported by the Happiest Place on Earth: Disneyland!

Since CHOC's doors opened in 1964, the Walt Disney Company and even Walt Disney himself have supported the hospital every step of the way. Walt helped fund the construction of the first building of the hospital complex in 1960. In 2012, the company endowed upon the hospital a generous donation of $5 million to help construct the hospital’s newest annex, which features magical characters and engaging experiences designed by Disney cast members and imagineers. That magical touch that Disney has provided the hospital spreads a little magic to children who don’t often get to enjoy it the way others do.

After all, happiness is a treatment for nearly all  illnesses, and of course with a little touch of pixie dust on the side, anything is possible!

Welcome To Eden Offers Another Perspective On The Garden (2008)

Gardenposter09If you’d like to know more about the South Central Urban Farm controversy as featured in the Academy Award nominated The Garden, you should give World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation’s Welcome To Eden a viewing. Documenting the events from the viewpoints of Willie Nelson, Joan Baez, and Daryl Hannah, the latter of whom was arrested during the eviction in solidarity with immigrant farmers, the film captures the raw emotion that surrounded the scene in the time leading up to the farm’s end.

The story of South Central Urban Farm is complicated and in many ways dependent on perspective. While The Garden depicts the events from the point-of-view of the three interests involved in the drama – the urban farmers, the original land-rights owner Ralph Horowitz, and The City of Los Angeles, Welcome To Eden specifically showcases the battle through the eyes of the farmer activists and their celebrity allies. Unfortunately, in 2006, the farmers lost the battle to Horowitz and the land was bulldozed. Today, after stalled talks between Horowitz and both Wal-Mart and Forever 21, the lot remains vacant.

Tattoo Artists Pledge to Break Trends & Set Novelty

tattoo 1Tattoo artists have the authority to either empower an individual with their creative desires or turn down an ill-advised regretful mark. For example, many artists will not tattoo a name of a significant other unless they feel as if the person is going to continue in a long-term commitment. A neck or face tattoo is a huge pledge in the tattoo world and should not be chosen in a nonchalant manner. Additionally, some artists may confuse your vision of your ink with their own artistic niches. In World Wide Motion Pictures Corporation’s documentary series Skin Deep, the featured artists explain to viewers that the best way to approach getting fresh ink is to give the artist ideas, but also the freedom to create a personalized design.

One such artist is F. Kirk Alley, owner of Kirk Alley’s 1111 Tattoo Studio in Los Angeles. He explains, “I have to really pick and choose and screen people so I make sure that we are a match…Like anything else that’s cool one minute, five years down the road it’s not cool anymore. So you have to be careful about what you pick and what you wind up putting on your body…You see how the whole world is getting tattooed right now just as a fashion statement. Whether they admit or not, a lot of people, a huge percentage of people, are getting tattooed just for fashion, to be a cool.”

Put another way, it's a tattoo artist's job to guide you in your ink-ed up endeavor. So stay calm and get a tattoo!

Based on the Irish play by acclaimed writer Joseph O'Connor and directed by Tamar Simon Hoffs, Red Roses and Petrol is an award-winning, darkly comedic drama. In it, Malcolm McDowell stars as Enda Doyle, an Irish poet, University librarian, and rascal whose sudden death triggers the dysfunction in his family and sparks a disturbing mystery. Gathering for the wake are his wife Moya (Olivia Tracey), stuck-at-home 20-something daughter Medbh (Heather Juergensen), outspoken older sister Catherine (Susan Lynch) from New York with her awkward Yankee boyfriend Tom (Greg Ellis), and their volatile brother Johnny (Max Beesley). The accidental discovery of their father's video diaries prompts the family to realize that they may not have known him - or his shocking secrets ‹ at all. However, through a haze of cigarettes, sarcasm, uneaten food, and more than a splash of Irish whiskey, the family overcomes their differences.

In addition to the accomplished cast, the film also features a memorable soundtrack, including new and classic recordings from the popular Irish American band, Flogging Molly, and Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles.

McDowell's body of work encompasses more than 40 years of cinematic achievements, including such classic films as A Clockwork Orange, O Lucky Man!, If...., Time After Time, Rob Zombie's Halloween, and television dramas like HEROES, ENTOURAGE, and FRANKLIN & BASH.
